VIN: G4M10SE1261
Mileage Showing:
Transmission: Manual
MOT: Exempt
Launched in 1958 as a replacement to the Austin Champ and designed to directly compete with Rover's Land Rover. Although arguably similar looking to the Land Rover the Gipsy used steel for its bodywork and suspension designed by Alex Moulton who went on to design the hydrolastic suspension used on many british cars from the Mini to MG F. This new suspension allowed the Gipsy to travel smoothly over rough terrain at high speed. Sold to both the civillian and military markets.
This example was first registered February 1965 and is fitted with optional leaf springs front and rear only available on later Gipsy models. Beautifully restored in 2016 and has since won multiple show awards. Fitted with the same 2.5 litre diesel engine found in the Austin FX taxis.
Sold with a good sized history file including records of servicing and maintenance including a record of ownership from a previous keeper. Showing 11,000 miles athough we believe the speedo was reset in 2016 during the car's restoration.
Please see our walk around video for more information and engine start up
