Designed and tested by British touring car legend Andy Rouse, based on the standard Sierra Sapphire cosworth the Rouse Sport Sierra was set to be a limited run of 100 cars consisting of 2 wheel drive (302R) and 4 wheel drive (304R) variants. Only 80 cars were built, 2 customer 302Rs plus a factory prototype, 76 304Rs and a factory prototype.

Available to order new through 18 select Ford RS dealers across the UK at a cost of £4,450 plus VAT on top of the £21,000 list price for the standard car and widely regarded as the best variation of Ford's super saloon with magazines such as Autocar pitting the 304R against the standard car and other tuned variants proving the 304R superior.

Upgraded from the standard car the Rouse Sport pack included a smaller custom designed Garrett T25 turbo greatly reducing turbo lag, ECU map to accomadate the new turbo helping to increase the BHP from the standard 220bhp to 260 and pushing the torque from 214lb ft to 300lb ft and in turn giving the 304R its name (300lb ft and 4 wheel drive) these changes helped shave over a second from the standard cars 0-100mph time.

While the standard Cosworth suspension remained Rouse Sport upgraded the bushings and increased the tyres to 225/50 all round surrounded by a custom designed wheel arch liner to ensure no fouling. These changes mated with the Rouse Sport bodykit consisting of front and rear bumpers, aero side skirts (designed to reduce aero drage on the new wider tyres) and larger rear spoiler. Other changes include Rouse Sport interior based on the original Recaro frames with larger bolsters and lumbar, body coloured C pillar trim and numbered build plaque.

This example is car number 41, first registered April 1991 and originally owned by the director of RS Ford dealer Bristol Street Motors in Bromley who kept the car for 2 years and 19,000 miles before being sold to its second owner who then passed ownership to her son in 2007. Now showing 6 previous keepers and 104,000 miles.

Fresh from a full nut and bolt restoration by an award winning and widely regarded Ford restoration specialist. Finished with a stunning attention to detail using new old stock and as many original parts as possible, believed to have been 1 of only 3 examples supplied with a cloth interior, this is believed to be the only surviving example.

Sold with a large history file including original book pack including service book with original delivery form as well as 17 service stamps upto 102,000 miles. Also included is the original Rouse Sport order confirmation letter confirming build number 41 and signed by Andy Rouse as well as large file of history for servicing and maintenance.

A stunning example of one of the rarest fast Fords with a large documented history a star in any collection.
