Originally provided to the UK police by Ford as the demonstrator to be tested by regional police forces up and down the country which resulted in Northumberland, West Yorkshire and Humberside forces placing orders for a total of 35 Escort Cosworths to be used as "Fast Response" vehicles to tackle the growing ram raid crime problem.

Originally registered on the registration K338FEW whils being used by law enforcement before being sold to a private owner, it has then displayed some private registrations the latest being the plate supplied with the car K434CAX.

Of the 35 cars used by the police some were "motosport" spec with raised suspension, motorsport wheels, mildly stripped interiors and larger sump guard, others were standard trim. A small number including this example were "lux" spec which included sunroof, which the police engineers disconnected as part of the pre service preparation. Pop opening rear windows and electric windows.

Sold in a part restored state, the vendor advises the recent work includes an underside refresh included polybushing, AVO coilover suspension, new adjustable arms, new steering rack, soild engine and gearbox mounts and stainless steel exhaust along with an engine rebuild including new pistons, upgraded turbo chargers and upgraded bonnet tanks.

Sold with 2 sets of keys and large history folder containing MOT certificates dating back to the late 90s showing mileage that connects with service stamps in the service book and receipts for work carried out over the same period. Service stamps split across 2 books totalling 17 stamps. The most recent at 69,000 miles in 2008 before the vehicle was taken off the road 18 months later.
