Developed by Basil Green in the early 1970s in conjunction with Ford South Africa who had 100 Ford Escort RS1600s but found them unsellable due to the fragile BDA engine not suiting the local market. The original 100 cars were convereted to run a 2 litre Ford engine and the Perana was born creating the worlds first Pinto powered Escort. Many original Peranas were converted back to RS1600 spec making original cars difficult to find.

This 1974 example was imported to the UK earlier this year and is supplied with a NOVA certicate required for UK road registration. Showing 4,000 miles although believed to be 104,000.
