1964 Singer Gazelle

Registration: BPW968B

Mileage Showing: 86,000

MOT: Exempt

  • Rare car with a fantastic history
  • Huge history file
  • Very original condition

Believed to have been originally ordered by the Govenor of Bermuda along with 115 other examples for official government use. Special ordered in black (standard Gazelles featured a two-tone paintjob and rarely in black) designed to be easily distinguishable from other Bermudian traffic as well as specificed with a rare column shift automatic gearbox due to the country's towns having a 15mph speed limit. Of the 115 ordered cars, some were not exported to Bermuda and instead remained in the UK to be sold to the public. It is believed this is one of 3 that remained on UK soil although we have been unable to find records of the other 2 cars.

Sought after with its Borg-Warner automatic gearbox also fitted to the Rover p5 and P6, the Daimler V8 saloon, Jaguar's XJ6 and many other high end cars.

Sold and first UK registered by Clarke Brothers of Kings Lynn on July 1964, sold with a large history file including original service records from Clarke brothers from 1964 through to 1973 as well as written anecdotes and stories of the cars history from previous keepers, MOT certficates dating back to the early 90s and other maintenance records.

The owner advises he believes the car to be very original including retaining most of its original paint.

A rare and intersting piece of british motoring history.
