Transmission: Manual
MOT: 15/10/2026
Number of Keys: 1
V5 on Site: Yes
After Vauxhall cancelled the HP Firenza model (its flagships sports model at the time) in 1975 they were left with a surplus of "droop Snoot" nose cones and wheels, that caused the launch of the "sports hatch" in 1976. Based on the Magnum and using its larger 2.3 litre engine and manual gearbox. Featuring the 7 dial dash as well as Dark Wine Red bodywork with contrasting Volcano red trim and stripes. Other features include Avon safety wheels and Bold Plaid checked interior.
Only 195 Sports Hatch models were produced (due to there being 195 nosecones left from the HP project) 3 of which were marked for export. The remaining 192 were sent to vauxhall dealers around the UK with only 1 in every 3 dealers receiving a car. Now only 12 cars remain on UK roads, we believe this example could well be the best!
First registered in June 1976 and recently the subject of a sympathetic restoration including paint refresh, underside restoration and the addition of period correct Recaro front seats re-trimmed in the correct bold plaid trim. The original front seats and a large roll of fabric are included in the sale.
Sold with a good sized history file including copies of articles on the Sports Hatch in classic car magazines and Droop Snoot news as well as old MOT certificates. Although now tax and MOT exempt still carrying a current test till October 2026.
A stunning example of an incredibly rare part of Vauxhall's history.
